11/8/2017 0 Comments 08/14/17: Applied VisionApplied Vision Corporation hosted our team for a tour and gave us the opportunity to present our robot and team. We had a great time learning more about what they do, which is produce machine vision systems worldwide for the food and beverage industry. We learned a lot of how they inspect bottles in beverage production. It was really interesting to learn how much work and detail went into this process.

11/8/2017 0 Comments 08/09/17: Kent DisplaysWe visited Kent Displays, a local manufacturing company that specializes in liquid crystal displays for e-writers. We presented about FIRST and our team, demonstrated the robot, then answered a lot of great questions. Afterwards, they gave us a tour of their facility and showed us the many parts of their production process. We were impressed by the intensive testing and design work that they do to develop their innovative products, such as their signature handheld e-tablet, the Boogie Board. They were kind enough to give us each a Boogie Board, which we can use for our own designs!

At this camp, students were to introduced to the FIRST organization and the principles of the FLL competition. We taught them how to program using the ev3 software with Lego Mindstorms, build their own attachments, and research and perform experiments to solve a real world problem. At the end of the week, they presented their robots and missions to each other and their families on an FLL competition table. At the coding camp, we helped kids learn how to program robots in robot-c, how to use Autodesk Inventor, and the basics of 3D printing.
